Summer Activities

Samoens truly has much to offer during the summer and the suggestions below are a taste of what you could be doing on a chalet holiday in the Alps. Here at Absolute Alpine, we are more than happy to make reservations for you in advance or during your stay. Please contact us with any queries on the activities listed below.

Paragliding - take to the skies above the Alps

So close to its original birthplace of Mieussy, Samoens is a fantastic and understandably popular location to enjoy the aerial thrill of paragliding (locally called parapenting). Whether you merely want a taste of mountains from above as a passenger, or would like to learn how to soar on the thermals alone, Samoens has what you are looking for.

Prices for a tandem flight start at approximately €60 pp with 5 day comprehensive courses teaching you everything you need to take to take to the skies alone starting at €480 per person.

Open air swimming

The open air swimming pool in Samoens lies in a beautiful parkland setting with panoramic views of the Grand Massif. There’s a main pool, a beginners’ swimming pool, a paddling pool and a 60m slide. With the mountain backdrop the Samoens pools are a wonderful place to take a dip. There’s a summer swimming club too.

There are 7 tennis outdoor hard courts in the village which can be hired through the Tourist Office. Tennis lessons can also be arranged throughout summer for those who wish to spend some time improving.

With mountain torrents, rivers, streams and lakes, this is a first-class area for fishing. Fishing permits are required, but some lakes can be fished free with a permit issued by the Tourist Office. Angling instruction is available with a strong emphasis on fly fishing techniques.

Indiana Park

Indiana Park offers a number of high-wire adventure courses for kids and big kids alike. You will feel like Tarzan as you make your way through the trees using a series of bridges, ladders, swings and other high-wire obstacles with a unique harness system to keep you safe. Even the little ones (110cm tall and upwards) can have a go with a special tree trail and tamper proof harnesses.

Horse riding

If you would like a day on horseback, there are some wonderful options for exploring the mountains with a four-legged friend around Samoens. Pony trekking and escorted walks for the little ones are available nearby in the beautiful setting of Sixt Fer à Cheval.

If you fancy yourself as a budding Robin Hood, there is a covered range where you can receive instruction on shooting targets up to 90m away (even if it is raining). Group lessons for up to 8 people are also available for you and your friends or family.
