Rock, Mountain Climbing & Via Ferrata, Samoens

Rock climbing

Whether you want to try rock, mountain climbing for the first time or are already accomplished at leading 8a, Samoens, French Alps holds loads of opportunities to play around on some rock. The limestone climbing in and around Samoens caters for both newcomers and rock jocks who are happiest swinging under an overhang on pumped forearms.

If you have a head for heights and want to try something less technical but with all the exhilaration, take a look at the via ferrata section below. A summary of all prices can be found at the bottom of the page.

The rock, mountain climbing season covers most of the year here in Samoens and the Giffre valley. Spring offers a great chance to climb some of the lower cliff faces in the sunshine as the snow recedes higher up. Summer is a perfect time to visit the more shaded crags and higher altitude multi-pitch routes whilst in autumn, the options are endless - although the temperature cools, climbing in a t-shirt can be possible right up until winter!
