The Ourses - The Grande Ourse & The Petite Ourse
During summer we offer a variety of holidays to our customers. Working in the summer will mean looking after a mixture of catered and self-catered guests in addition to those on our dedicated walking holidays. Ideally, the people that we are looking to recruit over the summer would continue to work with us through the winter and beyond.
Chalet Manager/Chalet Chef (ideally a couple)
Chalet Manager
The chalet manager role is central to the running of our chalets. In addition to being a point of contact for guests and being responsible for delivering the high standards in the chalets, you will be required to manage the operational elements of the chalets (e.g. checking laundry in and out, greeting guests and co-ordinating changeovers).
The chalet manager responsibilities include:
- Ensuring a relaxed homely feel to the chalets throughout the guests whole holiday
- Cleaning and maintaining high chalet standards
- Looking after the guests, assisting with queries and ensuring that they have the best holiday possible
- Co-ordination and supervision of the team during daily duties and weekly change-overs
- Management of linens (check-out/check-in and delivery) and laundry
- Chalet stock control (e.g. cleaning products, bar stock, wine)
- Co-ordination and serving of meals (dinner, breakfast & kiddies tea)
- Supporting the chalet chef in the kitchen as necessary
Are you all of the following?
- Somebody who is consciencious and enthusiastic
- A holder of a full clean driving licence
- Highly experienced in customer service
- Organised, prepared and calm
- Experienced in supervising and co-ordinating a team
- Somebody willing to go the extra mile when necessary
- Previously experienced in chalet, hotel or hospitality
- Looking for a longer term job in a stunning alpine village
Chalet Chef
The chalet chef role over the summer involves preparing food for our catered guests. In addition to breakfast and three-course evening meals, you will need to bake cakes and treats for afternoon tea. Our food is something that helps us stand out in the crowd and we set high standards in what we think chalet food should be like.
Responsibilities for our chalet chef include:
- Preparation and delivery of consistently high quality food
- Providing breakfast, dinner and kiddies tea (typically 8-15 guests)
- Menu planning and catering for dietary requirements
- Stock control and storage
- Weekly shopping and budget control
- Kitchen and store room cleaning, safety and hygiene
- Support the chalet manager as necessary
Are you all of the following?
- Experienced in cooking good quality food professionally
- Committed to maintaining consistently high standards of food
- Experienced in health and safety plus food hygiene
- Familiar with working in a chalet kitchen environment
- Creative and flexible in menu planning
- Experienced in stock control, purchasing and budget control professionally
- Looking for a longer term job in a stunning alpine village
